Optimizing Your Profile

Filling out your profile is the first step. Optimizing it is how you stand out in the Experts directory and attract the right opportunities.

Why optimization matters

Organizations browse dozens of profiles. Clear, outcome-focused profiles get more consults, project invites, and fractional role offers.

Tips for each section

Profile Information

  • Professional Title → Keep it short and specific (e.g., AI Readiness Consultant > Consultant).

  • Tagline → Use this as your elevator pitch: who you help, what you do, and why it matters.

  • Biography → Write in the first person (“I help organizations…”). Lead with outcomes and examples, not just a job history.

Specialties

  • Choose the areas you want to be hired for right now — don’t list everything you’ve ever done.

  • Focus on your “signature” skills (the ones you’re best known for).

  • Update specialties as your focus evolves.

Work Experience

  • Highlight results, not just responsibilities. (“Reduced claim errors by 20%” > “Managed claims department”).

  • Keep entries concise. Most people will skim.

  • Only include experiences relevant to the type of work you want to attract.

Publishing & Visibility

  • Don’t publish until you’ve completed all sections — first impressions matter.

  • Once published, review your live profile to make sure it looks polished and professional.

General best practices

  • Use the same photo you’d use on LinkedIn or professional sites.

  • Keep language conversational but professional.

  • Revisit your profile quarterly to keep it up to date.

Example of a strong profile

  • Title: Value-Based Care Strategist

  • Tagline: Helping payers and providers design sustainable care models.

  • Bio: “I work with provider groups and health plans to build scalable value-based care programs. Over the past 10 years, I’ve helped organizations reduce costs by 15% while improving outcomes in primary care and specialty networks…”
